National Center for Telehealth & Technology (T2)
T2 designs and builds applications employing emerging technologies in support of psychological health and traumatic brain injury recovery in the military.
Improve military health by ensuring the wellness of health care providers. Health care providers treating military personnel face high demands for their time and personal resources. Provider burnout, compassion fatigue, secondary traumatic stress, and other negative issues greatly impact the quality of healthcare provided to service members, veterans, and their families.
tiag managed the design and development of "Provider Resilience", a mobile app that helps health care providers guard against their own burnout and compassion fatigue as they provide care to service members, veterans, and their families.
The mobile app consists of a short self-assessment that creates ratings of risk for compassion fatigue, burnout, and secondary traumatic stress. The ratings can also be viewed as graphs to monitor them over time. A clock showing time since the last day of personal leave, inspirational cards, stretches, and comics all encourage providers to take restful breaks critical to avoiding burnout. Videos by service members describing the positive impact health care providers had in their lives offer a reminder of the value of providing healthcare. The mobile app is distributed as a free download in all major app stores.
