US Army Medical Information Technology Center (USAMITC)
The USAMITC is responsible for developing and maintaining a worldwide information management and information technology (IM/IT) system for the Department of Defense (DoD), Army Medical Command, and other government entities. From design to implementation to 24/7 support, USAMITC manages systems to enhance health care in furtherance of Army Medicine’s medical mission. The mission of the USAMITC is to utilize rapidly evolving technology to modernize and improve Army Medicine as we move towards the future of healthcare, in which IM/IT is tied inextricably with successful patient care.
USAMITC required an automated system for use by all DoD medical facilities for ordering and tracking eyewear.
tiag developers built the Spectacle Request Transmission System (SRTS) using best practices based on the Agile Methodology. In addition to providing current functionality for the present desktop system, our team also supports numerous new features to address present-day workflows which now exist. Since this application is used throughout all of DoD, interoperability has been a key component to all development efforts to ensure the final SRTS web application product will fully function with tertiary systems across the military health system.
Our team has also been instrumental in establishing software development best practices within the SRTS section where there previously were none. We have led the way in initiating the capture of project requirements, initiating the use of Team Foundation Server, and lending our subject matter expert perspective to establish software development and database management best practices.
tiag developers utilized best practices based on the Agile Methodology and initiated User Storyboarding and Design guided by business analysis and collaboration tools as well as sprint based iterations for developing new features, reducing turnaround time for eyewear.
