Army Materiel Command (AMC) Enterprise Management (EM)
The Army Materiel Command is the principal material developer for the Army. AMC accomplishes its mission through nine major subordinate commands, overseeing numerous depots, arsenals, ammunition plants, laboratories, test activities and procurement operations.
To align the information technology (IT) processes throughout one of the largest organizations in the Army. AMC’s entire command includes a network of more than 50,000 desktops and 2,500 servers in dozens of AMC-owned depots and arsenals across 45 states. A top priority for AMC was gaining an understanding of exactly what assets existed and how their disposition changed over time.
tiag implemented an Enterprise IT Management initiative to identify AMC assets and develop a comprehensive view of how financial investments in IT were enabling AMC’s overall mission.
tiag augmented this initiative with a series of software solutions tailored to meet AMC's needs including an IT Asset Management program that centralizes procurement and distribution of IT assets, while also managing the entire lifecycle of IT assets (from procurement through disposal).
tiag also developed a dashboard, or online console, that defines the key data points from information provided by the EM suite and simultaneously delivers essential insight and overview. With this, AMC has an accurate method of reporting on metrics.
AMC now has near real-time insight into compliance and security posture throughout the command as a result of tiag's solutions that provide Information Assurance. Additionally, AMC has more effective capabilities for assessing system-wide assets, real-time status of mission essential applications, and greater control over the lifecycle of IT assets.
A single Enterprise Service Desk, based on Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Best Practices, enables AMC to focus on incident management, problem management, and change management and will eventually be expanded beyond IT, to supporting facilities, engineering, and logistics.
tiag continues to manage the support and maintenance of the database, including back-ups, maintenance and fine-tuning, SQL scripting/programming, custom querying and reporting, and creating/extending tables and fields.
