Army Materiel Command (AMC)
AMC headquarters is a four-star command and one of the largest Army organizations, supporting over 60,000 desktops and 3,000 servers across 45 states. AMC’s Chief Information Officer (CIO)/G6 provides operational capabilities in support of the mission for command, control, communications, computers, and information technology through architecture, governance, portfolio management, strategy, and acquisition oversight. One of the main goals is to standardize the information technology (IT) processes across the command and consolidate redundant technology in centrally managed data centers.
AMC headquarters was relocating through Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) and needed to simultaneously migrate thousands of servers and consolidate data centers. The blueprint developed by the BRAC process was used to collapse local data centers that exist all over the country and migrate applications to the enterprise.
In support of AMC, tiag spearheaded the consolidation of services, applications and data centers throughout the command to enterprise hosting facilities. This included review and assessment of current capabilities, preparation of services and applications for migration and virtualization of physical servers. These efforts advanced the AMC CIO’s goals to standardize IT processes across the command and to consolidate redundant technology solutions in centrally managed data centers. The data center was built from the ground up and required detailed planning of physical components. tiag was also responsible for selection and implementation of server, network, and storage and virtualization technology.
In support of AMC, tiag spearheaded the consolidation of services, applications and data centers throughout the command to Enterprise Hosting Facilities. Our efforts advanced the AMC CIO’s goals to standardize IT processes across the command and to consolidate redundant technology solutions in centrally managed data centers.
