Army Recovery Care Program (ARCP) (previously known as MEDCOM Warrior Care and Transition / WCT)
MEDCOM’s Deputy Chief of Staff, Army Recovery Care Program (ARCP) (previously known as Warrior Care and Transition / WCT) is the lead proponent for the Army Recovery Care Program that evaluates and treats wounded, ill and injured soldiers through a comprehensive, soldier-centric process of medical care, rehabilitation, professional development and achievement of personal goals.
The customer needed to consolidate various Information Management and Information Technology (IM/IT) systems to support the ARCP and its direct reporting units, requiring modernization of the Army Warrior Care and Transition System (AWCTS). As the Army’s singular case management system that assists and supports ill and wounded warriors throughout their medical and rehabilitation processes and during their transition back into the force or into veteran status, AWCTS is an integrated, unified, web-based IM/IT application that allows seamless information sharing between modules for user accessibility. This modernization initiative required expertise in clinical and business informatics, user-centered design, cloud integration and data center consolidation. In addition to research, development, testing and evaluation services to modernize AWCTS, the customer required customized features and reports, along with specialized training and outreach to promote use of the system.
Valuing the superior performance and innovative solutions TIAG has provided for the command since 2009, ARCP relied upon TIAG's specialized expertise to ensure outstanding results. Expert IM/IT professionals on TIAG's team provided critical operations and maintenance services, as well as evaluation, testing, research and development to modernize AWCTS. Updating and streamlining the application, TIAG reduced hardware redundancy, boosted system responsiveness, minimized downtime, and enhanced user experience. Delivering an updated architecture for AWCTS that leveraged virtualization and reallocated resources, TIAG improved the system’s performance and reliability, resulting in substantial government savings. Specialized training videos TIAG developed for the AWCTS program were also incorporated into the Cadre Course curriculum for the Army Medical Department Center & School.
Entrusted with the application life cycle management of AWCTS throughout multi-year missions, TIAG's IM/IT team continues to deliver operations and maintenance support, and operates the AWCTS service desk TIAG established to assist users. Along with integration and infrastructure support, TIAG provides overall project management support, system configuration and technical services. Customized reports TIAG incorporated into AWCTS are used for improved care during the soldier rehabilitation and transition process. Making AWCTS accessible to users around the clock, TIAG has vastly improved capabilities to track every soldier’s progress, every step of the way — advancing ARCP's mission to support the Army’s ill and wounded warriors and their families.
