It’s encouraging that cybersecurity considerations are driving a large portion of federal IT decision-making. At the same time, though, it is important to note that this trend has thus far not proven sufficient to truly protect federal agencies from cyberthreats.
As agency budgets continue to tighten, the pressure to minimize wasteful and inefficient spending will only increase. In effect, departments will increasingly turn to the cloud out of necessity.
The vast majority of state governments are coming up short in regard to cybersecurity.
Tony Scott, the U.S. CIO, argued that cloud solutions represent the most secure means of storing data. Rather than posing a risk, cloud integration is actually an excellent method of improving cybersecurity for federal agencies.
